In the upcoming 2024 model year, Toyota is introducing a unique addition to its GR86 lineup - The Trueno Edition.
Toyota introduces a Trueno Edition to the GR86 lineup, paying homage to the AE86 Corolla popularized by Initial D. This special edition enhances performance with Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes. Toyota plans to release only 860 units in the U.S. The suspension and brake upgrades extend to the entire 2024 GR86 line. Brembo brake calipers and larger rotors are dealer-installed options for 18-inch wheel-equipped GR86s. The manual GR86 now offers adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking.
The Toyota GR86 Premium, despite a marginal price increase, offers significant value. It includes heated seats, stylish 18-inch wheels with summer performance tires, adaptive LED headlights, and an improved eight-speaker audio system. The six-speed manual transmission remains an excellent choice.
The GR86 features a naturally aspirated horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine from Subaru. With a more potent 2.4-liter engine generating 228 horsepower, the GR86 now accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds and completes a quarter-mile in 14.0 seconds, a notable improvement.
A six-speed manual is the standard transmission, while a six-speed automatic is optional, albeit slower.
